Bures Message Board

NSW State records for assisted immigrants to Sydney Australia has my ggg grandfather arriving in 1857. The place of origin is Marybure London. Is this the same place as Bures?

I have been researching the village history for a number of years and I haven`t come across this name or the family name before.
However, it does seem a coincidence that the word MaryBure are contained in our name "Bures St Mary ?

There is a part of London called "Marylebone" (Mary-le-bone) which may what you are after, as you mention "The place of origin is Marybure London"
