The War Years |
These pages are an extract
from a book, I published on January 1st 2020
Busky lived at Butlers Farm in Bures, with her parents and sister Mary.
During 1943, without warning the American Airforce arrived at the farm and
commandeered all the land, apart from the farmhouse.
Another adjacent farm, Bakers Hall was also seized.
Between the two of them, numerous concrete roads were installed, which resulted
in one of the largest Munition Depots in East Anglia.
This is Chapter 11, which
was based entirely on many hours of talking to Busky, recalling her war-time
memories on the farm.
