The area around Bures is in the process of being designated by the UK Government
as an "Area of Outstanding natural Beauty" (AONB)

 

The Local Plan Policy on the conversion of Rural Buildings states:

(a) The conversion of rural buildings (including modern buildings) for business re-use will be permitted
provided that: - they are of permanent and substantial construction and capable of conversion without major extension or complete reconstruction;
- their form, bulk and general design are in keeping with their surroundings;

(b)There would be no unacceptable impact on the landscape or protected species or historic environment

(c)Traditional recycled materials are proposed where possible for all new building work.............

However the Applicants own Structural Inspection Report, documents seven pages of text together with fifteen pages of supporting photographs, all referring to the current buildings being in a near state of collapse.

Para 3.03 Area B - This area was found to be in disrepair. The roof was missing completely over a large area and a broken truss was noted on the floor.
The ground was grown over but we could not note any solid floor in this area. The brickwork walls that remains were noted to be leaning over.

Para 2.06 Barn 1 Area B was found to be brickwork walls only in places as part of the roof had collapsed and been removed in the past.
A truss was found on the ground. No solid floor was noted.

Para 3.07 Area A - We noted numerous cracking to the brickwork in this area. The worst areas
were to the south east corner where the brickwork had appeared to split in two places.

Para 3.03 Area B - This area was found to be in disrepair. The roof was missing completely over a large area and a broken truss was noted on the floor.
The ground was grown over, but we could not note any solid floor in this area.
The brickwork walls that remain, were noted to be leaning over.
