Slaughterhouse Development, June 2018

Statement from Clare Frewin, June 1st

A huge THANK YOU to all 75 people who came to the Silent Protest last week. Your time and support given is greatly valued by James and I. We were impressed with how BDC managed the site visit meeting and how everybody’s presence was acknowledged.

Unfortunately for us work continues at a pace on site, houses now rendered and boundary walls to the site are being demolished. All our legal communication re. the damage to our garden wall has been ignored by the developer. Just to protect our home last week, due to the immediacy of the situation, I was advised by our solicitor to stand in front of a digger to stop works up against the side of our house! Instead I repeated legal statements many times over the noise of a digger until they moved away. A listed building in a conservation area ... this is what planning & enforcement looks like for us in 2018.

I will keep asking for the date of the BDC Planning Committee meeting, when the decision on the new application will finally be made.

Statement from Clare Frewin, June 7th

Following the BDC Planning Committee site visit held on 23rd May, a key action from the meeting was for Babergh District Council to commission an independent survey. The survey was carried out today and from what we observed it was very thorough. It covered many measurements across the site and neighbouring properties including the roof pitch height of White Horse House, Byron House and the new houses, we believe this figure gives the best data to measure impact.

So aside from the WH Brown sign vandalised, more false accusations thrown at us & the developer calling the police yet again, it was generally a good day!

Next step is the date for the BDC Planning Committee meeting, watch this space ...
