Wife of Witgar Hitchcock, Bures Mill

Margaret was involved in many organisations in the village, in particular the Women's Institute


 

Margaret Hitchcock played an important role in the formation of the Suffolk West Federation, along with being the Federation Secretary and the Chair.
She also donated this magnificent Cup, but it`s origins seem to be shrouded in mystery.

The cup is still used today for competitions that Suffolk West WI`s can enter.

It`s engraved the "Margaret Hitchcock Cup"
