Ferriers and the Petre Family

"Ferriers" derived its notability from the Pelham and Waldergrave family who were associated with the property.

However, the current owners of the property can date their ancestry much further back, to circa 1451.

One notable person in that lineage is Sir William Petre of Ingagestone Hall who was
"Secretary of State" to Queen Elizabeth 1st

Queen Elizabeth visted Smallbridge Hall during 1561 and 1578
